Webb13 sep. 2024 · The new ecodiesel engine in the 2024 Rams and the Jeeps are a 3rd Gen engine yes. As far as being better or not, it probably is too soon to tell. there are people that have/had a 1st gen engine and made it 300,000 miles or more on it, and there are some that had their truck catch fire at 15,000 miles and burn to the ground. WebbI believe the tow capacity is 9000 lbs (depending on configuration) which is just shy of the hemi, but the ecodiesel gets fuel economy that surpasses the hemi. My father has the hemi and gets about 12-17 on average. I get 22-26 with most of my fillups falling in the 24 mpg window. diesel fuel prices are more stable so far.
